Menace2Sports approached us with a request: they wanted users to access their 2025 Midwest Preview magazine directly on their site, while preventing downloads or link sharing. The goal was simple, deliver a seamless reading experience for paying members while keeping content secure and inaccessible to non-paying users.
To make this possible, we integrated Flowpaper, a third-party platform that embeds the magazine and enforces content protections, and layered it with Realms’ subscription and permissions system. This combination allowed us to control access to the magazine based on who had purchased on realms and who hadn’t.

How It Works
- Landing page promotion: Users can preview the magazine and preorder through a dedicated landing page on Realms.
- Purchase access: Magazine access is purchased directly through Realms.
- Instant delivery: After purchase, users receive an email with a receipt and a secure link to the magazine on the landing page.
- Future access: Returning users can always access the magazine through their account or via the magazine landing page.

Keeping Content Secure
By combining Realms’ subscription and permissions system with Flowpaper’s protections, we were able to ensure that:
- Users cannot download or print the magazine.
- The original source file remains inaccessible.
- Each access link is unique and cannot be used by non-paying users.
- Links expire after 24 hours, requiring a new secure link for continued access.
Conclusion
The magazine is now live and being read by many Menace2Sports members. Attempts to share content outside the system have been blocked, keeping the magazine secure and exclusive.
This approach isn’t limited to magazines. Our system can control access across a wide range of content and platforms, giving creators and communities confidence that their content is staying secure while only reaching the people that paid for it. If you’re interested in implementing secure access for your content, our team is ready to help.
